Born in Vancouver BC, Al Harlow began fronting Brit Invasion style bands, writing blues-pop songs to record locally in the late ‘60s. A move to England in the early ‘70s immersed Al in the London music scene, cutting his songs at De Lane Lea studios. Recording as “Harlow” in ’77,producer Bruce Fairbairn heard the results, and teamed Al with his ex-Seeds of Time bandmates to complete the band Prism.
Signed to Capitol Records, Al and the young Bruce Fairbairn worked together in the studio as Fairbairn launched his celebrated production career. Prism headlined sellout arena concerts in the US and Canada through eight albums, with Juno Awards for Album & Group of the Year along the way.
Al’s guest lecture at Capilano University in the ‘80s resulted in his teaching classes in songwriting, record production, music history & business for three decades, while mentoring recovery groups, playing guitar in church, and keeping his classic cars polished, all amidst Prism’s tour schedule.
Al served as adjudicator for the Junos and West Coast Music Awards while writing and recording with Jim Vallance, as the two assembled a Prism Greatest Hits album. This spawned a second career for the band, continuing to the present.
Al is currently launched the new Al Harlow, Now! album, an autobiography, and booking this year’s national concert tours.

“Al Harlow is funny, engaging, endearing, energetic and supremely talented on guitar and lead vocals. He danced and pranced around the stage as if he were your little brother pretending to rock out in front of a mirror to his favorite tune.”
“Fronting Prism, Harlow is free to do his Chuck Berry duck walk across the stage, jump into the audience and play guitar on his back while still singing the same high-level vocals that were synonymous with Tabak.” (Music Express, March 5, 2019)
“Anyone with a taste for guitar-driven pop rock is going to take to this album. The first track and the record’s first single, “Let It Go,” is a rocket-ride of a tune that should draw attention to this classy and diverse collection. The final track, “Way of the World,” was written by Harlow along with a couple of other composer names that might be familiar: Jim Vallance and Bryan Adams.” (Coast Reporter, Jan 10, 2022)
“Anyone who knows and has followed Al Harlow for forty years might be thinking ‘Al Harlow At Last’… Through it all, Al has retained his style, influences and attitude … It is the portrait of a rocker who has survived and has earned some freedom.” (Tom Harrison | Nov 8, 2020)
