Shannon AKA MsMauz is the girl next door with a twist of retro meets mod state of mind and style. She is a DJ, singer, and lyricist, who is now assisting other musicians, businesses, and companies with their digital marketing. Enjoying a variety of music genres, she likes to keep the music local and Canadian as much as possible. She has been traveling within Europe for the past two years learning as much as possible and gaining new knowledge. Winning the community pick title on a Beatport Toolroom Producer contest with her collaborator RMY on their track "Morning Light", MsMauz feels has been just one of the greatest achievements thus far on her journey. She has worked with local hip-hop artists on their label NIA Productions including Jeff Mawnster, Die Nasty, and Sinizter. She has also been involved in creating a marketing checklist with The Music Entrepreneur. MsMauz was an on-air personality for HSB (Hot Shot Bands) Radio which is rated Vancouver's number one music website. She did hour long radio specials with her co-host Danara (Dizzy D) and had airtime with her single "Free As the Wind".
She graduated from Nimbus School of Recording Arts with a diploma along with a letter of recommendation from the Advanced Music Production program. The school is run by the well known producer Garth Richardson who has worked with artists such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Rage Against the Machine, and he was mentored by the well known Producer Bob Ezrin who worked with acts such as Kiss and Pink Floyd. While at Nimbus and after graduating she has helped with various events around the school and continues to do so, including studio assisting for a BC Children's Hospital event. In her time at Nimbus, she worked with artists such as Randy Ponzio, Pomme, and Nadia Von Hahn to name a few. Before starting at Nimbus, MsMauz was attending Columbia Academy until it shut it's doors two months later. After that, attending Nimbus seemed to be the obvious answer to her career path and that's where it started. After careful consideration about her career, she anticipated questions concerning the business side of the music industry and started in her six months of the music business course at BCIT with Chris Brandt who has credit for over ten years in the industry.
When she was younger, Shannon was known as a shy and timid creative girl who was set on getting over her shyness and being in front of the camera and sang many genres for talent shows such as Canadian Idol a couple years in a row and around the same time raised enough money to perform for BC Children's Hospital talent show. She attended choir with an inspiring music teacher Jeremy Hepner for most years in high school and performed at places like Gateway Theatre and events that went on in the school for special occasions where she got confident enough to do some of the choir solos. There during grade 12 she realized her love for composing beats on Garage Band and writing more songs to accompany them.
Whilst still singing, collaborating, and managing her own career, she is also using her business skills as a digital marketing freelancer. After finishing the music business course, she has continued to learn how to take her career to the next level and learn as much as she can about digital marketing as a whole. With her advanced knowledge, she hopes to be able to assist other artists in need of social media marketing techniques to help them succeed in their music careers.
